The Mieroszewski Centre has become a partner of an event to mark the 33rd anniversary of Ukrainian independence, that was held on 24 August at Castle Square in Warsaw.

This day was not only a celebration, but also an opportunity to show support for our neighbours fighting for freedom. The event, organised by the Stand with Ukrain foundation and the Euromaidan-Warsaw social initiative, represented an important moment of solidarity.

The Mieroszewski Centre was very happy to participate in this event not only as a partner, but also as the publisher of the anthology ‘War 2022’. During the event excerpts from this remarkable publication were be read at Castle Square by Polish and Ukrainian actors and actresses, including Aleksandra Poplawska and Agnieszka Przepiórska.

‘War 2022’ is an anthology of more than 40 Ukrainian writers and poets, featuring their personal accounts, essays and poems written during the war. The book is a testimony to what people directly affected by the conflict experience. These poignant texts, written from trenches, bomb shelters or border crossings, show emotions, fear, hope and faith in a better tomorrow.

We invited you to celebrate together and support Ukraine on this special day. Let's be together in Castle Square to show our solidarity and faith in Ukraine's victory.
