Polihistor 2.0 video commentaries are aimed at all enthusiasts of contemporary Central and Eastern European politics and history. more
The mission of the Mieroszewski Centre is to initiate, support and carry out activities aimed at the peoples of Eastern Europe.
They aim to strengthen the independence of Poland, as well as Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova and Georgia from Russia, and to support democratic processes. This objective is pursued, inter alia, through the Mieroszewski Centre's scientific, publishing and educational activities. One of the tools available for the latter are video-commentaries and podcasts.
Video commentaries and podcasts have gained enormous popularity in recent years, providing easily accessible sources of knowledge on a variety of issues. Of particular note is Polihistor, the Mieroszewski Centre's original podcast and video-commentary series. They were created to support the Centre's educational mission by providing reliable, vetted and up-to-date information on historical, political and cultural topics.
Polihistor focuses on Eastern European history and politics and is hosted by Bartłomiej Gajos and Ernest Wyciszkiewicz. In addition to podcasts, the Centre regularly publishes video commentaries that explain current events in the region in an accessible way. Both media forms provide comprehensible analyses for a wide audience and answers to important questions, which are becoming crucial in the face of increasing Russian aggression.
Polihistor - a reliable source of historical and political knowledge
Polihistor's podcast and video commentaries cover both historical issues and analysis of contemporary events, showing the links between the past and the present. This enables listeners and viewers to better understand how political decisions of the past shape today's reality and what the future consequences might be.
Each episode of Polihistor lasts about 15 minutes and is devoted to a specific issue in history, international politics, culture and Poland's relations with other Eastern European nations. Difficult topics are presented in an accessible and comprehensible manner, thanks to which the material attracts both history enthusiasts and those seeking reliable information on current events.
The video commentaries that complement the podcasts often accompany the most important political and historical events in the region. Thanks to their dynamic format, the images and commentary allow viewers to better understand the issues being analysed and to follow their context.
Polihistor - commemorating Juliusz Mieroszewski
An important element of the series is the reference to the legacy of Juliusz Mieroszewski, an eminent 20th century Polish political writer and patron of the Centre. Episodes often refer to his works and views, which, despite the passage of time, remain relevant in the face of contemporary challenges.
