Road to URC – Security and Defense Dimension
The Mieroszewski Centre is participating in the preparations for one of the most important international events dedicated to Ukraine’s future – the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026.
This annual forum brings together representatives of governments, international institutions, businesses, and civil society to coordinate efforts aimed at the reconstruction and modernisation of Ukraine; the 2025 edition took place in Rome, while this year’s conference will be held in Gdańsk.
One of the key milestones leading up to the summit is the Road to URC “Security and Defense Dimension” conference, which will take place on 27 April 2026 at Rzeszów University of Technology. The event focuses on security and defence issues, including the role of modern technologies and industrial cooperation in Ukraine’s recovery process. Representatives of public administration, business, and expert communities from Poland, Ukraine, and across Europe will gather in Rzeszów.
The participation of the Mieroszewski Centre highlights its commitment to fostering Polish–Ukrainian dialogue and to analysing the social and political processes shaping the region.
One of the programme’s key elements will be an expert panel organised by the Mieroszewski Centre titled “Beyond social media: insights from public opinion research in Poland and Ukraine since 2022”, scheduled for 27 April at 17:00 in the library of the Rzeszów University of Technology. The discussion will feature Łukasz Adamski (the Mieroszewski Centre) and Mykola Riabchuk, and will be moderated by Olha Vorozhbyt from Foreign Policy Council Ukrainian Prism.
The discussion will be based on research conducted by the Mieroszewski Centre, which tracks changes in public opinion in Poland and Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion. Experts will examine trends that go beyond social media debates, as well as the impact of Russian disinformation on social polarisation and the role of public institutions, the media, and civil society in responsible communication and mitigating social tensions.
As part of the event, the Centre will also host a stand presenting public opinion research reports in three language versions, publications by the Lemkin Laboratory, and books addressing Ukrainian-related topics, including “Robaków rozgryzać nie wolno”, “Wojna 2022”, “Efekt Zełenskiego”, “Nuklearna sukcesja”, and “Lwów. Miasto wielu stron”.
The Centre’s presence will also feature a photography exhibition by Maciej Stanik. The exhibition is curated by Bartłomiej Kiełbowicz.
The Mieroszewski Centre’s participation in the Road to URC conference contributes to the broader debate on security and Ukraine’s reconstruction. It also supports a deeper understanding of social processes in Poland and Ukraine and helps build lasting foundations for cooperation in the region.
