Polish–Belarusian dialogue on solidarity
The Mieroszewski Centre was a partner of an expert conference devoted to the challenges of Poland’s migration policy towards Belarusian citizens, as well as to the historical traditions of solidarity and support for people fleeing political repression.
The event provided a space for in-depth, substantive debate based on fact-based analysis, institutional experience, and legal and humanitarian perspectives.
The conference “Polish–Belarusian Dialogue on Solidarity. Historical Traditions and Contemporary Challenges of Poland’s Migration Policy” took place on 12 December 2025 in Warsaw. It brought together experts, representatives of non-governmental organisations, and legal and analytical communities from Poland and Belarus, as well as practitioners engaged in providing direct support to migrants and political refugees.
The discussions focused on visa policy, the legalisation of stay, international protection, and the adaptation of Belarusians in Poland – including access to education, employment, and the financial system. An important element of the debate was also the placement of contemporary challenges within a broader historical context, highlighting the continuity of Polish solidarity efforts throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.
The conclusions of the conference are both analytical and practical in nature, serving as a reference point for public institutions and civil society organisations working to build a more balanced, fact-based narrative on migration.
The Mieroszewski Centre’s role as a conference partner is consistent with its mission to support dialogue, rigorous expert debate, and initiatives promoting solidarity and cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe.
