Russian Politics of History Toward Poland and Ukraine (1999–2022)

Status: Ongoing research

Project management: Dr Bartłomiej Gajos, collaboration: Dr Ernest Wyciszkiewicz

The project aims to analyze Russia's politics of history toward Poland and Ukraine over the past 23 years (1999–2022) using a novel research approach.

Positioned at the intersection of three disciplines—humanities (history and linguistics), social sciences (political science), and exact sciences (data science)—the study employs text mining methods to quantitatively analyze over fifty thousand unstructured textual documents (e.g., speeches, press conferences, interviews) from the Office of the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other key institutions of the Russian Federation.

To facilitate this endeavor, the project has established a collaboration with the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science at the Warsaw University of Technology. This partnership integrates the expertise of the project leaders with the skills of data analysts to explore the opportunities and limitations of applying modern informational tools to political analysis.
