Dictionary of Polish-Ukrainian historical discourse
The aim of the work, which will culminate in the publication of the fundamental ‘Dictionary of Polish-Ukrainian Historical Discourse Concepts’, is to identify and then conceptually analyse the basic concepts understood differently by Polish and Ukrainian historians.
It will be an attempt to analyse the meanings, associations and connotations of concepts used in the historical discourse of both nations. In addition to its academic objectives of filling an important research gap and publishing a volume in line with the sub-discipline of history known as the ‘History of Concepts’, the dictionary and the accompanying conferences will facilitate dialogue between academics, especially historians, of both countries, and, by translating academic discussions into popular history and journalism referring to the past, will help to weaken the impact of pseudo-historical arguments on relations between the two countries.
