Self-Governance Academy for Leaders in Georgia

What is the essence and importance of managerial competencies in a local government organisation and how do they relate to effectiveness? The Self-Governance Academy for Leaders in Georgia aims to strengthen the administration of local government units in Georgia through the organisation of specialised training.

We have invited Georgian coaches to participate in the project, whose next step - after attending workshops with experts from the National School of Public Administration from Poland (KSAP) - will be to prepare professional staff necessary for the development of local government in Georgia in line with current European Union standards.

Within the framework of the Academy of Local Government for Leaders, coaches will be trained on the following topics:

  • principles of building team effectiveness,
  • effective managerial behaviour in local government units,
  • the role of the leader in shaping a conducive working atmosphere.

Georgian local governments face a number of problems, including a lack of leadership and management competencies among authorities, as well as a lack of a sense of responsibility for local communities. The project aims to strengthen the human resource potential of the Georgian territorial administration. Investment in soft skills is crucial for efficient regional management and building trust among local communities.

The organisers of the Academy are: the Mieroszewski Centre, Solidarity Fund (representative office in Georgia), National School of Public Administration (KSAP), Leaders of Change Foundation, Georgian Association of Finance of Local Self-Government Units (AFOGLSU), Civil Service Bureau (CBS).
