Why this school?
In Poland, Belarusian literature appears only sporadically, most often framed in a political context. Yet contemporary Belarusian prose is diverse and modern – ranging from experimental writing to social and realist fiction – and deserves to reach Polish readers.
The school was created in order to:
- develop the translation skills of participants under the guidance of recognized specialists,
- create a dedicated space for young translators of Belarusian literature,
- deliver a tangible result: the publication of an anthology of short stories translated by participants,
- build a bridge between Polish and Belarusian culture, including within the Belarusian diaspora in Poland.
The Polish-Belarusian Translation School “Words to Words” is not just a training programme – it is a cultural mission. Thanks to your work, contemporary Belarusian literature can enter the Polish literary debate as a diverse, vibrant, and modern voice. Become a translator who opens the door for Polish readers to this world – and see your translations published in our anthology.
