What kind of Ostpolitik does Poland need?
Russia's aggression against Ukraine has presented Poland with its greatest threat since 1989. What should an effective Polish foreign policy towards Russia look like?
In response to these questions, Bartek Gajos and Ernest Wyciszkiewicz analyse the threat to Poland from Russia, drawing on Juliusz Mieroszewski's concept as described in his 1973 essay ‘Polska Ostpolitik’. They discuss whether the traditional approach to relations with Russia is still valid, and how Polish foreign policy should evolve to strengthen the country's security.
