The Soviets and the Polish Underground 1943–1946

The Soviets and the Polish Underground 1943–1946. Selected Aspects of Stalinist Repression Policy

This scholarly volume contains articles written by historians from Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Lithuania, highlighting various aspects of the Soviet Union’s policy towards Poles and neighbouring nations in the 1940s.

The texts, which deal with topics such as Soviet roundups and manhunts, and the Volhynia massacre, were mostly written on the basis of archival materials that were unavailable or unused until recently. Now, readers will be able to familiarise themselves with new findings or new interpretations of the sovietisation process in Central and Eastern Europe.

The publication is the outcome of the research project entitled “Relations between the Soviet Authorities and the Polish Underground State: 1943–1946.”
