Polish-Ukrainian academic cooperation
During a three-day government delegation to Ukraine to strengthen Polish-Ukrainian scientific and academic cooperation, the team included prominent representatives of Polish science and experts on Polish-Ukrainian relations, including Dr Łukasz Adamski, deputy director of the Mieroszewski Centre.
The visit of the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Andrzej Szeptycki, included a series of meetings with Ukrainian counterparts and representatives of the academic world. In Kiev, the Polish delegation met with the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, where various forms of support and joint promotion of science on the international arena were discussed, particularly in European Union countries. A conversation with the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Prof. Anatoly Zagorodny, focused on the state of Ukrainian science and the challenges arising from the war conflict, including the problems of relocation of technical universities.
A visit to the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and a meeting with its rector, Prof. Volodymyr Bugrov, resulted in a lecture by Andrzej Sheptytsky on scientific cooperation between Poland and Ukraine, highlighting the mutual benefits of such cooperation.
The delegation also participated in meetings with Serhiy Kvit, Rector of the National University 'Kyiv-Mohyla Academy', and with staff and students from other prestigious Ukrainian universities, such as Donetsk's Vasyl Stus National University in Vinnitsa, Khmelnytskyi National University and Lviv universities, including Ivan Franko National University and Lviv Catholic University.
It is worth mentioning that the Mieroszewski Centre, represented by Deputy Director Lukasz Adamski, has long been involved in scientific cooperation with Ukraine. The implementation of joint research and scholarship programmes for scientists is a key element of this cooperation. These activities are aimed not only at the scientific development of both countries, but also at building lasting relations between Polish and Ukrainian academic institutions. Joint projects and scholarship initiatives conducted by the Mieroszewski Centre together with Ukrainian partners contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience, which is invaluable for long-term scientific and cultural development.
