"War 2022" at Warsaw's Polish Theatre
Co-published by the Mieroszewski Centre "War 2022" is coming soon to the Polish Theatre in Warsaw, where a performative reading will feature masterful interpretations of selected parts of the book performed by: Dorota Bzdyla, Ewa Domańska, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski and Andrzej Seweryn.
"Ukraine Fights: War 2022" is a chance to experience writings from the anthology which we published last year from a completely different perspective. The diaries of Volodymyr Vakulenko, an essay by Viktoria Amelina and poems by Serhiy Zhadan and Halyna Kruk, among many others, were written in trenches, bomb shelters, refugee centres and border crossings, will now take to the stage of Warsaw's Teatr Polski on the 30th of January, Tuesday.
At 7.30 p.m. on the Sławomir Mrożek Chamber Stage, we will meet on the eve of the second anniversary of the outbreak of full-scale war associated with the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine. We are aware that this devastating armed conflict has been going on long enough that the tragic state of affairs is an accompanying habitude. Thanks to a collaborative initiative of the Polish Theatre in Warsaw, Nowa Polszcza and the Mieroszewski Centre, it will be possible to support Ukrainians with our presence and remembrance.
The uniqueness of the performative reading is underlined by the fact that it will take place in the form of only one performance. The event is part of Teatr Polski's series "Reading in Polish", in which actors and actresses, devoid of props and elaborate stage design, rely solely on their voices.
During the event, the book will be available for purchase at the promotional price of PLN 30, it will also be available in our online shop.
PLEASE NOTE: The performance is ticketed. Tickets are sold via the Teatr Polski website or at theatre box offices.
