Poles under Soviet rule after 17 September 1939

Status: Ongoing research

The project involves gathering possibly complete information on persons missing in the north-eastern provinces of pre-war Poland between 17 September 1939 and June 1940, i.e. people who might have been the victims of the Katyn Massacre.

The project collects, in addition to basic personal data of the arrested person (surname, first name, date and place of birth, parents' names) information necessary to conduct further verification work: the date of arrest and the circumstances relating to the imprisonment, the date of ‘last information about arrested person’, education, occupation, place of residence and work, social status, rank or service, functions in social organizations, as well as data related to the deportation of the arrested person’s family in April 1940 to Kazakhstan.

At the end of 2015 years a memory book under the title "Nieodnalezione ofiary Katynia. Lista osób zaginionych na obszarze północno-wschodnich województw II RP od 17 września 1939 r. do czerwca 1940 r.” is to be published.
It will be an attempt to reconstruct the “Belarusian Katyn list”, which has been missing or is kept classified.
