Ukrainian opinion leaders in Poland 2026

How can journalists report on the world in times of war, disinformation and rapid political change? How can independent media be built and journalistic standards upheld in an environment shaped by pressure, emotions and information overload?

These questions were at the heart of the second edition of the Central and Eastern European Journalism Academy – a programme designed for young Ukrainian women journalists and organised by Press Club Polska in cooperation with the Mieroszewski Centre. From 26 May to 1 June 2026, participants gathered in Gdańsk to develop their professional skills, learn from the experience of Polish media, and build networks between journalistic communities from both countries.

The Academy’s programme focused on the key challenges facing contemporary journalism. Participants took part in workshops on international investigative journalism, OSINT, reportage, investigative reporting, countering disinformation, and the relationship between the media and politics. An important part of the programme was also devoted to discussing how Poles and Ukrainians perceive one another and how the media shape dialogue between the societies of both countries.

The sessions were led by renowned Polish journalists, reporters and media experts, who shared both their professional experience and practical tools of the trade.

The Central and Eastern European Journalism Academy forms part of the Mieroszewski Centre’s broader efforts to strengthen ties between opinion-forming communities across Eastern Europe.
