Study visit of the Moldovan Memory Museum team

From 20 to 24 April, a study visit of members of the team working on the future Memory Museum in Chisinau is took place in Warsaw.

A group of specialists from Moldova came to Poland to work on the creation of a future Memory Museum dedicated, among other things, to the experience of Soviet repression. The aim of the visit is to gain insight into the practical aspects of creating and managing modern museums, as well as to exchange experiences with Polish experts.

The programme included visits to key museum institutions in Poland, such as the Museum of Polish History, the Katyn Museum, and the Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the PRL.

A central part of the programme took place at the Museum of Polish History, where participants attended presentations and workshops on topics including the development of permanent exhibitions, educational activities, collection building, and museum project management. Meetings with experts provided behind-the-scenes insight into the process of establishing a major cultural institution.

In the following days, participants also visited the Katyn Museum and the Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the PRL, where they explored different approaches to presenting difficult history and engaging audiences.

The programme also included a meeting at the Mieroszewski Centre, which has long supported the development of international cooperation and initiatives related to historical memory.

The knowledge and experience gained during the visit have supported participants in creating a modern Memory Museum in Chisinau—an institution intended to become an important space for reflection on history and its contemporary consequences.
