Studio visit of independent Belarusian artists

As part of the cooperation between the Mieroszewski Centre and the Bliski Wschod Festival, a unique study visit is being organised, which becomes a platform for the exchange of experience and ideas between Belarusian artists and the Polish artistic community. This joint venture enables artists, intellectuals and cultural managers to participate in the Performative-Dance Laboratory - a unique project combining theoretical and practical workshops with the realisation of short theatre and dance forms.

Each day, the results of the participants' work are presented to the public, and open discussions after the shows will create a space for a deeper understanding of contemporary Belarusian culture. The week of intensive activities will culminate in a gala event, summing up the achievements of the participants and bringing together different fields of art in a unique performance.

The study visit is an integral part of the 3rd edition of Bliski Wschod Festival, which takes place from 9-15 December 2024 at the Cultural Centre in Lublin under the theme ‘Strategic Forest’. Thanks to the involvement of the Mieroszewski Centre, the participants of the visit have a unique opportunity to present the richness and diversity of independent Belarusian culture.

Bliski Wschod Festival supports intercultural dialogue and promotes the work of artists forced to operate in difficult, often extreme political conditions. It is not only a space for building artistic relations, but also an opportunity to better understand the challenges of contemporary artists from Eastern Europe.

The project is being implemented as part of Lublin's application for the title of European Capital of Culture 2029, as part of efforts to promote cooperation and mutual intercultural understanding.
