Research in Poland - 2024 | Mieroszewski Centre

The Mieroszewski Centre announced the next edition of " Research in Poland", which is a scholarship that for the second year supports scholars and researchers in their efforts to deepen the knowledge of the history, culture and political situation of Central and Eastern Europe. The scholarship is a unique opportunity to gain financial support for research projects that are crucial to understanding the past and present of the peoples of this part of Europe.

Multidimensional research on the heritage of Central and Eastern Europe

The scholarship programme is addressed to researchers working on a wide variety of topics that are relevant to the development of contemporary knowledge and cultural identity. Examples of research projects carried out in previous editions illustrate the breadth of the programme participants' interests - from research into the social aspects of life in the late Russian Empire, to the analysis of the axiological foundations of political transformation in Central and Eastern Europe in the 1990s, to the attempts to understand women's experience of war in the context of their everyday experience of history.

The programme's participants undertake complex and diverse research challenges; last year's winners also investigated Polish-Ukrainian cultural relations in the interwar period of the 20th century or the international legal status of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from 1385 to 1569. Research projects conducted as part of 'Research in Poland' help to understand the legal and political conditions in the history of the region and shed new light on the dynamics of relations between nations. The programme not only promotes academic development, but also actively supports the preservation and revival of the cultural heritage of Central and Eastern Europe.

We invited everyone interested in Central and Eastern Europe to apply for the second edition of the Mieroszewski Scholarship Programme.

Research in Poland: recruitment details and deadlines

Recruitment details:

• for whom: the programme is addressed to foreigners conducting or intending to conduct research in Poland related to the topic of the scholarship.
• duration of the scholarship: the scholarship may be awarded for a period of three months to nine months, between October 2024 and the end of September 2025.
• amount of the scholarship: PLN 6500 per month.

Applicants will be notified of the results of the competition by email by 25 September 2024.
