In many countries of Eastern Europe, research in the humanities and social sciences continues despite limited funding, restricted access to sources, and few opportunities for international exchange. What’s often missing is a space where scholars can take a step back, dive deeper into their topic, refine their methodology, access archives — and simply focus on their work.
The “A Month in Poland” programme was created for researchers who refuse to give up on ambitious projects, despite challenging conditions. It offers not only time and financial support (6,500 PLN for a one-month stay), but most importantly, access to what truly matters: archives, libraries, expert networks, academic dialogue, and a safe environment for research.
The scholarship does not impose specific topics — it allows participants to pursue research in whatever form their project requires: archival work, interviews, field observation, or primary source analysis. What matters is the quality of the idea, the scholarly potential, and the drive to say something meaningful about Central and Eastern Europe.
This programme is for those seeking a moment of pause and an intellectual boost at the same time. For those who need a catalyst — to turn a research project into a real outcome: a publication, a collaboration, a new perspective.
