The scholarship was intended for month-long scientific research projects in Poland for people from Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Russia.
“Month in Poland” was a scholarship programme run by the Mieroszewski Centre, offering researchers from Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Russia the opportunity to spend one month in Poland conducting research on the history, politics, culture, and heritage of Central and Eastern European nations.
Researchers affiliated with academic, expert, or analytical institutions with a documented research track record—as well as doctoral students without a PhD but with research experience—were eligible to apply.
The scholarship was awarded for a one-month stay in Poland and amounts to 6,500 PLN. The programme supported projects involving archival and library research, interviews, fieldwork, source analysis, and other scholarly activities conducted in Poland.

“It was the first time I could truly focus on writing for several weeks. The archives I worked with turned out to be essential for my project — but just as important were the conversations I had with researchers I met in Warsaw. I left with a draft article and a new idea for my next project.”
“The ‘A Month in Poland’ programme is more than just a scholarship – it’s tangible support where it’s often missing. Thanks to it, I was able to conduct interviews I previously had no access to, and for the first time, I collaborated with a Polish research centre. It changed the way I look at my topic.”
“In my country, I don’t have access to such collections or a peaceful space to work. My stay in Poland was a breakthrough — not only academically, but personally. I returned with valuable source material and a strong sense that I’m part of a wider community of regional researchers.”
