For years, the Mieroszewski Centre has organised prestigious summer, autumn and winter schools that bring together researchers from Central and Eastern Europe and other parts of the world.

The Mieroszewski Centre's programmes are devoted to history and international law, as well as political analysis, and aim to enhance knowledge and exchange among young scholars, students and public affairs professionals.

Why take part?

Participants in the Mieroszewski Centre's schools have a unique opportunity to gain knowledge under the guidance of eminent experts, combining theory and practice. The programmes include intensive lectures, seminars and workshops that allow an in-depth analysis of issues such as responsibility for violations of international law, the role of historians in interpreting events, or the importance of international law in armed conflicts. During the schools organised by the Centre, participants learn how international law assists in the evaluation of historical events and how it can be used in the analysis of contemporary political problems.

International cooperation

The Mieroszewski Centre's summer, autumn and winter schools are also an opportunity to establish international contacts and develop cooperation with researchers from countries that share a common and often difficult history. Our participants come from, among others, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, as well as EU countries and North America. As a result, in addition to learning, the schools are an excellent space for exchanging ideas and establishing long-term professional relationships.

Training programmes

Each thematic school focuses on selected topics in international law, history and political analysis. Examples of topics that have been discussed in previous editions include:

  • responsibility for violations of the law of armed conflict,
  • the importance of the International Criminal Court,
  • the role of international law in contemporary policy-making,
  • prohibited weapons under international law.

Together with experts, participants examine these issues, learning how international law can influence politics and diplomacy, and how history and law interact in the study of the past.

A unique experience

The schools organised by the Mieroszewski Centre offer not only the opportunity to acquire knowledge, but also to develop academic skills. Our participants take part in interactive workshops, have the opportunity to present their research, and discuss current issues in the contemporary world with other professionals. The programmes are tailored to the needs of PhD students, young researchers and public affairs professionals.

Get a certificate and new opportunities

Each participant who successfully completes our school will receive a certificate confirming the skills and knowledge acquired. Participation in our summer, autumn and winter schools is not only a great opportunity to expand your knowledge, but also to develop professionally and make valuable contacts in an international environment.
If you want to deepen your competences, learn about the perspective of international law and the history of Central and Eastern Europe, as well as establish valuable professional relationships - you are cordially invited to participate in our schools organised by the Mieroszewski Centre.
