‘Russian Zuckerberg’ arrested - Russian politicians furious

Pavel Durov, a well-known entrepreneur and founder of Telegram, was detained on 24 August at Paris airport.

Durov's founding of a popular Russian social network has been controversial both in Russia and abroad. The French authorities decided to take this step for reasons that were not immediately made clear. With this, they caused speculation in the international media. Russian propaganda reacted sharply, attempting to portray the detention of Telegram's owner as an attack on freedom of expression and an attempt to undermine independent communication tools.
