"Żarliwy antykomunista" in Wroclaw
What is the relevance of the documents produced by the Ukrainian KGB for the evaluation of John Paul II's activities in the eastern direction?
How did this pontificate change the situation of Christians living in Soviet Ukraine? What was the significance of the Greek-Catholic question in John Paul II's great evangelising plan, which even today has not lost its relevance?
To answer these questions, we invited the editor of the book, Dr Andrzej Grajewski, Prof Igor Halagida and Prof Wojciech Kucharski. The discussion will be moderated by Dr Łukasz Kamiński.
The Ossoliński National Institute and the Mieroszewski Centre invite to a discussion on the book "Żarliwy antykomunista". The Pontificate of John Paul II in the KGB documents of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (1978-1991).
The presentation of documents produced by the KGB of Ukraine between 1978 and 1991 is an important contribution to understanding the scale of the ideological confrontation that took place in the Soviet Union during the first decade of John Paul II's pontificate.
