The Gdańsk Literary Meetings 'Odnalezione w tłumaczeniu' is a literary festival that focuses on the art of translation. It brings together renowned writers, translators and critics from home and abroad to discuss literature and translation.

These encounters provide an opportunity to look at literature from a different perspective and are a good starting point for discussions about global changes and cultural dynamics. The translation that is discussed at the festival allows for an intimate confrontation with the text and the building of relationships between people, cultures and art genres.

In 2023, the Mieroszewski Centre has become co-organiser of two items on the festival's programme: a translation workshop and a debate on Ukrainian drama.

  • Masterclasses with Anna Korzeniowska-Bihun, translator of Ukrainian literature and films in Ukrainian, Belarusian, Russian and English. The workshop is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students specialising in translation from Ukrainian, as well as budding translators and interpreters of Ukrainian literature.
  • The debate 'Ukrainian Drama in Europe. Ukrainian drama is one of the most dynamically developing theatrical currents in Europe. Over the past two decades, Ukrainian theatre has begun to attract more and more attention from international audiences, and its artists are receiving more and more invitations to festivals and theatre competitions. Their works deal with important social, political and cultural themes, often referring to Ukrainian history and traditions. Ukrainian drama is certainly one of the most important and promising theatrical trends in Europe.

Participants in the discussion included Lidia Nagel (Dramapanorama), Anna Korzeniowska-Bihun, Stefan Ingvarsson, Anastasia Haishenets (Ukrainian Institute). The meeting was moderated by Agnieszka Sowinska. The Regional Representation of the European Commission in Poland was a partner of the meeting.
