The aim of the conference "Siberia and Poland. Common Places in Literature and History", which will be held on 20-21 April 2023 in Bialystok, is to analyse the most relevant issues in Polish-Siberian relations over the centuries.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their insights on a wide range of issues concerning the history of Poles in Siberia.

  • Polish-Siberian literary parallels
  • Polish-Siberian links in painting and music
  • Siberia in egodocuments
  • Polish researchers of Siberia
  • Methodological problems in Polish-Siberian studies
  • Adaptation of Poles in Siberia
  • Identity and identification of migrants from the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania in Siberia
  • Polish periodicals in Siberia
  • The myth of Siberia and the exile

The conference will also be attended by members of the so-called Siberian Commission headed by Prof. Zbigniew Wójcik.

The conference is addressed to all those interested in the history of Poles in Siberia.

It is planned to publish a peer-reviewed monographic volume, prepared in accordance with current publication requirements.
