HUMBUG is a series of workshops on fact-checking and combating disinformation aimed at primary and secondary school teachers and educators. The aim of the training sessions is to equip participants with practical tools and knowledge to help them recognise fake news and effectively pass on these skills to their students.
HUMBUG workshops will take place in four cities in Poland:
- 11-12 April - Bydgoszcz
- 6-7 June - Zielona Góra
- 17-18 October - Opole
- 21-22 November - Białystok
The workshop is aimed at primary and secondary school teachers and educators who want to explore the topic of misinformation and learn effective fact-checking methods.
No, participation in the workshop is free of charge. The organisers provide accommodation, food and reimbursement of transport costs.

Yes, the number of places is limited. Sequence of applications decides, so we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible.
Each participant will receive a personal certificate confirming their participation in the workshop, as well as access to educational materials and the Facebook group for participants.
The workshop covers the following thematic blocks:
- fake news and other types of false information,
- reliable sources of information,
- content verification tools,
- how to respond to disinformation in conversation and online,
- disinformation around the war in Ukraine and the refugee crisis,
- methods and tools for working with students.
Yes. In addition to theory, participants will work with concrete examples, test fact-checking tools and create learning materials that they can use with their students.
The workshop is led by experts from the Demagog Association, the first fact-checking organisation in Poland, which has been fighting disinformation and media education for years.
