  • analysis of museum collections and primary sources, including photographs, maps, manuscripts, or audiovisual materials,
  • surveys and other social science methods, where applicable,
  • meetings and consultations with Polish researchers and experts in fields relevant to the project.

The programme aims to provide participants with access to resources that will enrich their research and allow them to work within a real Polish academic and institutional context.

The scholarship is awarded for a period of one month.

ATTENTION! the requested scholarship period under the scholarship program must not begin earlier than 3 months from the date of submission of the scholarship application.

The application process for the “A Month in Poland” programme consists of several stages:

  1. Submission of applications – candidates complete the application form online using the application generator available at stypendium.mieroszewski.pl.
  2. Formal assessment – we verify the correctness and completeness of the application and required attachments.
  3. Substantive evaluation – carried out by an independent Expert Committee appointed by the Director of the Mieroszewski Centre. Projects are assessed based on their academic value, coherence of the research plan, and relevance to the goals of the programme.
  4. Results – all applicants are notified by email. A summary of awarded grants is also published on the Mieroszewski Centre’s website.

Applications are evaluated in two stages – first formally, then on their merits.

1. The formal assessment checks whether:

  • the application was submitted on time by an entitled person,
  • it contains all the required attachments,
  • it falls within the scope of the competition.

2. The merit assessment is carried out by an independent Commission of Experts and includes:

  • the quality and originality of the research project,
  • the relevance of the topic to the program's aims,
  • the scientific value and publication potential of the project,
  • the coherence and feasibility of the research plan,
  • the candidate's scientific achievements.

Clarity of description and well-founded research aims are also important.

The scholarship awarded under the “A Month in Poland” programme is intended to support the substantive development of the research project and to cover costs related to the fellow’s stay in Poland. However, it cannot be used to cover:

  1. purchase of electronic equipment
  2. activities funded by other activities or by other entities

The call for applications is being conducted on a continuous process until funds are exhausted.

Persons who have been awarded a scholarship under the “Month in Poland” scholarship program in the previous calendar year are not eligible to apply.

The scholarships are awarded by a Committee of Experts appointed by the Director of the Centre.
